so what?

We are not only looking for a new member, if ever, we are certainly looking for a band name. As we are all creative souls, we already have a huge bunch of ideas. I might say that this fact won’t ease the decision as the more choice one has the harder it gets :-)

At the moment, I’m working on a site map for a future website and I try to get a clear idea of how it should look like and what the content will be. And of course I’m always busy with working on songs, improving existing material and specially improving my own musical competencies. I’m really benefiting from my very talented band. They inspire me a lot! You will like it ;-)

any guitar players around?

We are really regularly on rehearsals now. Last Tuesday was really great. We worked hard on one song and we can say now that it’s quit finished (although a song will never ever be finished…) But we found out that we need a second guitar player. So if you wanna join us, write me a message :-)

work, work, work… but I won’t complain

There’s a lot going on these days. I met my guys again on Thursday for another rehearsal session and it was really grooving. I came home quite late and I couldn’t turn off that easily as I was thinking about all the songs and where it’s gonna lead us.

So I was really tired when I got up yesterday at five in the morning. But I had to, as I needed to prepare for another photoshooting. I have planned that long ago, with a good friend of mine I met through my singing teacher. She really loves taking pictures and I really love posing, so we agreed that we will be a good team.

Surprisingly, my make-up turned out to be fine at the first try! This is really unusual – normally, it takes me at least two times…

So we drove up to the mountains where she knew a good location for the shooting. We passed a chapel and we spontaneously decided to take a few pictures there as well. I felt like a sinner and an angel at the same time ;-)

We were pretty fast and even finished our work before the rain came again. Now we have to take a choice of all the pictures we shot and then I have to start with the website and in parallel I need to work on my songs and write new ones and rehearse with the guys, and, and, and… there’s work all around me, but I won’t complain, as this is all I ever wanted and so much fun!

This is truely the best news ever on this blog: it’s done, it’s perfect, I have a band! Finally, after all this time with no luck, I got touched by some mighty power showing me the right persons and bringing them to me.

That’s to say I’m back from our first rehearsal session. After meeting Jerry, the guitar player, last week for a chat, we decided to jam together, he, Kalu and I. And, o Holy God, he sent me a message on the weekend saying that he’s in contact with another guy who plays the guitar and the bass as well! So, without knowing him, Alex, at all, we met tonight to find out whether we fit together or not. And damn we do!

It was amazing, just jamming, working a little bit on one of my songs, working on one of Jerry’s songs and getting along very well!

So it feels like if it’s all done but in fact, it’s just about to start! A lot of work ahead but a lot of fun too and I’m sure we will end up creating something special! I love it!

I’ll soon do another photoshooting. I had a very nice evening yesterday with an old friend. I know her from my singing teacher as she used to have the lesson before me and it’s been three years now that we didn’t have contact. But we found each other and it fit right again. So we warmed up our old project to take some pictures – she’s very into all this visual stuff and she really loved my ideas I have for this shooting. Now we are both very motivated to do it. I can’t tell too much, only one thing: I’m not a bird, but I have wings ;-)

in anticipation of my participation in the world wide web – yes, I’m gonna have my own homepage – I’m doing a research. I’m checking different artists homepage to find out what pleases me, how a homepage should be built and what it should contain…

Do you have any suggestions?

You wouldn’t guess where I just returned from! I know it not only sounds crazy, it actually is, but I’ve been to Capetown for two days! This sounds as exceptional as it is. It was a very, very spontaneous idea – my photographer friend was there and we were chatting over facebook and he told me that he might have time and might get a team together, so I just waited for his ok to book a flight and leave the rain behind me to see the beautiful landscape of this marvelous city.

We had two shoots: one in the evening on the balcony and the other in the early morning on a beautiful sand dune in the middle of nowhere. Therefore, we had to get up at 5am to catch some nice light. I’m really looking forward to receive the pics soon – they’re gonna be awesome!

Although I did not sleep too much and I had to travel a lot (Capetown is about 14 hours flight away), it was the most beautiful weekend I ever spent in my whole life! I’ll never ever experience something like that again and I feel very blessed and honored that I had the chance to work with such a professional team! It was just crazy! Crazy f**ing cool! Thank you.

I hereby say goodbye to a year full of joy and happiness, a year with ups and downs, a year that made me who I am – together with all previous years. It was a good year, one with much preparation so I can go on straight in 2009. I feel somehow like a rocket: just filling some more fuel in and then I’d be ready to start straight to the skies.

Whoever thinks that this new year will change a lot might feel as I do. In this sense: have a very successfull 2009!

I just returned from a jam session together with my drummer. After not seeing us for at least four months, it was really a great motivation to see, how things still work with us! I even felt more sure of what I wanted and how I wanted it to sound and I had no problems to try different things. I feel somehow really grown up with that – where I had some problems to open up myself even half a year ago. We even had our first visitor, our first audience. A friend of him went to see him and listened for a while and I assume it’s a good sign that he’s still alive ;-)

So next steps will be that we try to figure out who the bass and the guitar line should sound and therefore, I need to find the perfect pitch and settle down the chords. Still work in front of me but I’m more motivated than ever before. Let this train roll!

finding my picture perfect

It might seem that I am impatient but I think that after waiting for more than a year now, it’s time to look out for a new photographer – one who has more time than my dear friend who travels the world. And luck is once more by my side! One of my work mates took some pictures from our office trip and I liked his pictures. So I asked him if ever he would also take some pictures of me and we agreed that we will work together. He’s quite a passionate photographer (check out his homepage!) and I especially love his black and white shots.

I already have an idea how the pictures should look like. Now I gotta find an appropriate location for the shooting, an industrial park or something like that. Or maybe somewhere in the snow. And a hairstyle. And make-up. And an outfit! And as soon as I have the pictures, I can work on a homepage, finally. It’s gonna be a lot of fun next year, it’s all gonna assume a shape now.
